A gable-end, exterior mural featuring Axel Scheffler illustrations. Conduit Place, opposite Ashley Street Park, Bristol
Painted to inspire creativity and reading, this mural shows three children drawing their favourite characters - Zog, the Stick Man and, of course, the mouse from The Gruffalo - from well-loved picture books. My sincere thanks to a hero of mine, the illustrator Axel Scheffler, for allowing his characters to be copied in this mural, taken from the Julia Donaldson stories. And, thanks also to Macmillan and Scholastic publishers for signing this off.
Situated opposite a small, but vital, playspace in Ashley Street Park the homeowners were keen that the artwork should connect with and inspire the children who make use of the playground as well as passers-by to nearby nurseries, schools and public spaces.
And, thank you to my painting team on this project: Ali, Kirsty, Sonja & Tanith
